Design and analysis of clinical trials, statistical inference, history of statistics, meta-analysis, ethics, decision analysis applied to drug development, drug safety.

His books, "Cross-over Trials in Clinical Research" and "Statistical Issues in Drug Development" are published by Wiley and his latest book, "Dicing with Death" by Cambridge University Press.

He is the recipient of
- George C Challis award for biostatistics of the University of Florida.
- PSI Award for most interesting speaker in 25 years of PSI, 2002
- Biopharmaceutical section of ASA award for best contributed paper 2002
- Awarded Honorary Membership of PSI, 2007
