Research interests:
The Sedor lab uses genetic and genomic approaches to define mechanisms of progressive CKD. Diabetic nephropathy is a common complication that results in kidney filtration barrier dysfunction and scarring, ultimately culminating in kidney failure and dialysis. Current projects focus on a novel scaffold protein necessary for assembly of proteins required for normal glomerular filtration barrier function and collecting families to identify diabetic nephropathy susceptibility genes using linkage and association approaches.
