Internal Medicine Residency, Stanford University Hospitals and Clinics, 1984-1987, Fellow in Infectious Diseases, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, 1987-1992; Assistant Professor (1992), Associate Professor (1996), and Professor (2001) of Medicine, University of Texas Medical School-Houston. Editor, Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, co-founder of www.doctorfungus.org , Chair of Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute Subcommittee on Antifungal Susceptibility Testing. Research Interests: Anti-infective agents (antifungal, antibacterial, antimycobacterial), clinical development of novel agents, in vitro and in vivo testing of novel agents, hospital epidemiology and infection control, infections in the critical care setting.
