Research interests:
Dr High's special area of interest is in the series of enzymatic reactions that causes blood to clot. However, her research interests extend to several areas, including the molecular basis for hemophilia and thrombosis, or abnormal blood clotting. Her current research on a gene therapy approach to hemophilia hopes to lead to a therapeutic correction of blood Factor IX deficiency, allowing for the prevention of bleeds rather than their treatment after occurrence.

Any other information:
Dr High is President of the American Society for Gene Therapy (ASGT), a member of the FDA Cellular, Tissue and Gene Therapies Advisory Committee (CTGTAC) and the NHLBI Advisory Committee. She is also an Elected Councillor for the American Society of Hematology (ASH) and a member of Executive Committee. Dr High is on the editorial board of the journal 'Blood'.

Dr High was chair of session on Novel Therapeutics, Gordon Conference on Hemostasis and Scientific Co-chair at the American Society of Hematology, 42nd annual meeting. Her research has been recognized by her election as a Fellow of the AAAS, for "Distinguished contributions in the field of human gene therapy", election to the American Clinical and Climatological Association and fellowship of the American Heart Association. She has also received the National Hemophilia Foundation Researcher of the Year Award.
