Caroline Owen is Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Pulmonary/Critical Care Medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital.

Her laboratory studies the cell biology and enzyme biochemistry of leukocyte serine proteinases and matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) and ADAM family members. They also investigate the pathologic roles of MMPs and ADAM family members in lung pathologies including acute lung injury, pulmonary fibrosis, pulmonary emphysema, and asthma.

As well as being a member of numerous professional societies, she is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, UK, and a member of the Editorial Board of the American Journal of Respiratory Cell and Molecular Biology.
