Research interests: Professor Horvath’s research focuses on how endogenous ligands influence the pain sensitivity and which type of interactions could be observed after coadministration of different endogenous ligands at spinal level.
Her self and her colleagues are particularly interested in the endogenous opioid endomorphin-1 and the NMDA antagonist kynurenic acid.
Complementary research projects are currently addressing the development of new chronic pain models and new technics for pain assessment.
Used are a number of different techniques to address the behavioral aspects of pain mechanisms in rats:
Chronic intrathecal catheterization
Continuous intrathecal microinfusion
tail-flick test
PWd test
Von-Frey test
Weight-load analysis during walk
