Neil Stone is a Professor of Clinical Medicine (Cardiology) at the Feinberg School of Medicine of Northwestern University. He is Medical Director of the Vascular Center of the Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and a practicing Internist-Cardiologist-Lipidologist at Northwestern Memorial Hospital (NMH).

His research interests include lipid disorders, metabolic syndrome and premature coronary disease. He has lectured widely on cardiovascular disease with particular emphasis on preventive cardiology and the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of lipid metabolism.

Professor Stone was a member of the National Cholesterol Education Program’s Adult Treatment Panels (ATP I and ATP III) A past Chairman of the American Heart Association (AHA) Nutrition Committee and Clinical Affairs Committee, he recently served on the AHA Expert Panel on Population and Prevention Science. He is currently an At-Large Member of the new Council on Nutrition, Physical Activity and Metabolism. He is the first President of the Midwest Lipid Association Chapter of the National Lipid Association.
