Research interests:
Professor White's diverse interests include the epidemiology, pathophysiology and management of uncomplicated and severe malaria, meliodosis, enteric fever, tetanus, dengue haemorrhagic fever, Japanese encephalitis and tuberculosis. His particular interests at present include the pathophysiology and treatment of severe malaria and the prevention of antimalarial drug resistance using artemisinin-based combinations.

The contribution of Professor White to the field of infectious diseases has led to widespread recognition. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, Academy of Medical Sciences and Royal Society of London. He was also awarded the Order of the British Empire for his research work on tropical illnesses in South-east Asia.

Professor White has contributed to over 500 peer reviewed scientific publications and has written over 30 book chapters.

I really like the website! This is a tool that most clinicians and scientists will find extremely useful to keep abreast with the rapid advances in our fields. And it will make this easy, interesting and fun!

Head of Faculty: Infectious Diseases (since 16 November 2005)

Nick White is a Head of Faculty for the INFECTIOUS DISEASES Faculty. The role of a Head of Faculty is to help divide the Faculty (specialty) into Sections (sub-specialty areas), nominate leaders in those areas as Section Heads, and offer ongoing advice on the strategic direction of the service. They are not asked to evaluate articles, although we do, of course, welcome them.
