Raúl J Gazmuri

Raul J Gazmuri is Professor of Medicine and Associate Professor of Physiology and Biophysics at the Finch University of Health Sciences/The Chicago Medical School. He is Section Chief of Critical Care at the North Chicago VA Medical Center, which is affiliated with the Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science.

His research interests focus on myocardial ischemia and reperfusion injury applied to cardiac arrest and resuscitation with a special interest in functional myocardial manifestation and the underlying cell mechanisms. The functional role of mitochondria in ischemia injury and its signaling mechanisms for apoptosis are also of interest.

Professor Gazmuri is a Fellow of the American College of Critical Care Medicine.
