Thorsten Lewalter is Professor of Medicine at the Department of Medicine-Cardiology, University of Bonn. He became Director of the electrophysiological laboratories at the University Clinic Bonn in 2000.

His research focuses on tachycardia mechanisms, mapping techniques and catheter ablation of supraventricular and ventricular tachycardias. He is also interested in pharmacological and interventive therapy of atrial fibrillation and pacemaker and ICD therapy.

He is a member of the German Cardiac Society and the Working Group on Arrhythmias of the European Society of Cardiology, and he is also a member of the editorial boards of Zeitschrift für Kardiologie and Herzschrittmacher und Elektrophysiologie. Professor Lewalter has received the Travel Award for Fellows in 1996 of the North American Society for Electrophysiology and Pacing (NASPE) and was repetitively selected as a faculty member of the NASPE scientific sessions.
