Helen Kathryn Reddel is Clinical Associate Professor and Research Leader of the Clinical Management Group at the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research, University of Sydney. She is Honorary Associate Physician at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Camperdown.

Professor Reddel is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. She is Co-Chair of the European Respiratory Society/American Thoracic Society Task Force, ‘Asthma control and exacerbations: standardising endpoints for clinical asthma trials’ and a member of the expert panel of the present NSW Shared Scientific Assessment Scheme (Department of Health). She is Clinical Adviser and Expert Adviser on lung function for the Asthma Drug Facility, International Union against Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases. This body is working to make asthma medications more affordable for developing countries. She is also a Member of the Scientific Committee of the Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA). This committee is responsible for developing and updating international asthma guidelines. Professor Reddel’s editorial responsibilities include being Associate Editor of the journal Respirology and being on the Editorial Board of the Primary Care Respiratory Journal.
