Torben Sigsgaard is Professor of Occupational Medicine, Head of the Department of Environmental and Occupational Medicine and Deputy Director of the Institute of Public Health at Aarhus University. He is chairing the post-graduate educational board for the Public Health Program at the Faculty of Health. 

His present research activities are concerned with airway diseases within the framework of gene-environment interactions, primarily inflammatory airway diseases including asthma. The research can be divided into three main areas, epidemiological studies, exposure studies and experimental toxicological studies.

Professor Sigsgaard is an Editor of the Annals of Agricultural Environmental Medicine. He is past Vice Chair of the Scientific Committee for the Danish Work Environment Fund, past President for the Danish Society of Agricultural Medicine and Key Supervisor for the Danish Graduate School of Public Health (GRASPH). He also chairs the Occupational & Environmental Health Science group of the European Respiratory Society.
