We focus our research on the regulated productions of Alzheimer’s amyloid peptides and formation of neuritic plaques.
Specifically, we are interested in understanding the regulation of BACE1, a type I membrane bound aspartyl protease which functions as the b-secretase. We have recently identified RTN/Nogo family members as BACE1 modulators. The roles of these proteins in Alzheimer’s pathogenesis are currently being investigated.
