Dr Berek has acted as a Scientific Advisor/Consultant to a number of pharmaceutical companies and publishers.

Research interests:
The immunology and immunotherapy of ovarian cancer, and the development of experimental models and clinical trials. His team's initial work with the use of intraperitoneal biologic response modifiers, especially interferons and interleukins, encouraged development of cytokine-mediated gene therapy strategies. His team also focuses on the development of monoclonal antibodies and novel strategies for the treatment of ovarian cancer.

Jonathan Berek is a Section Head for Gynecological Cancers, part of the ONCOLOGY Faculty. The role of a Section Head is to work with their Co-Section Head(s) to divide the Section (sub-specialty area) into its component areas of research, nominate leaders in those areas as Faculty Members, and offer ongoing oversight of the content within their Section. They are not asked to evaluate articles, although we do, of course, welcome them.
