Research interests:
The central focus of the laboratory is the study of cellular microenvironment, as determined by extra cellular matrix (ECM) and basement membranes (BM), in the regulation of the cellular behavior during health and disease. This fundamental research interest in matrix biology, coupled with teaching at the Medical School constitutes bulk of my academic activity at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School. The research activities are predominantly in the areas of Vascular Biology and Angiogenesis, Genetic and Acquired Kidney Diseases, Organ Fibrosis and Basement Membrane assembly as it relates to Stem Cell Research and Tissue Engineering.
