Research interests:
Dr. Wessells' research interests include the physiology and pathophysiology of erectile dysfunction, animal models of diabetes, penile endothelial cell function, gene therapy approaches to erectile dysfunction, and melanocortin signaling of sex behavior. A proerectile melanocortin agonist developed by Dr. Wessells and his collaborators at the University of Arizona is in clinical trials for the treatment of erectile dysfunction.
