Lisa Maier is affiliated with the University of Colorado Denver as Associate Professor of the Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary Sciences and Critical Care Medicine, and the Department of Preventive Medicine. Her teaching and professional positions include Director of the  National Jewish Medical and Research Center (NJMRC) Occupational & Environmental Pulmonary Medicine practice and Director of the Division of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences Core Clinical Laboratory at the NJMRC.

The major emphasis of Professor Maier’s clinical practice is granulomatous lung diseases, including chronic beryllium disease and sarcoidosis. Her research is focused on translational and clinical studies on non-infectious granulomatous lung diseases. The major aim of this research is to understand susceptibility factors in the development of granulomatous lung diseases, including genetic and exposure factors, and factors which predispose people to more severe forms of disease.

She is a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians as well as a member of the American Thoracic Society, American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine and American Public Health Association.
