Clinical Research:
- Observational case control study on the risk factors for relapse after urethroplasty, with particular attention to smoke, body mass and comorbiditis.
- Prospective study on the quality analysis of the outcome after urethroplasty performed in hospitals with a large quantity of patients or in hospitals with a small quantity of patients. The study's goal is to evaluate the use of economic and human resources in the treatment of urethral pathology in relation to its outcome.
- Random study, a controlled evaluation of the continence analysis and of sexual potency after a bulbar urethroplasty with or without incisions of the bulbocavernosus muscles.
Basic Research Activity
- Evaluation of non-adrenergic non-cholinergic innervation of the urethra and its implications on stenosis processes.
- Project to obtain through epithelium engineering segments of autologous urethra to be transplanted in patients. Clinical results are expected in the next five years.
