Professor Juengst is Associate Professor of Medicine at the Department of Medicine II, Klinikum Grosshadern, University of Munich in Germany. He is a consultant in internal medicine, focusing on gastrointestinal and hepatological diseases.

His research mainly focuses on the pathogenesis of cholesterol gallstones; the effect of ursodeoxycholic acid on lipid peroxidation and mucin secretagogue activity of gallbladder bile in patients with gallstones; and local, adjuvant and systemic treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma.

Professor Juengst is a member of the Bavarian Association of Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine, the German Association of Gastroenterology, Oncology and Hepatology, the American Gastroenterological Association. He is also on the Editorial Board of Case Reports in Gastroenterology
