Several aspects of bone disease including clinical and genetic studies on osteoporosis and Paget's disease of bone; the role of Nitric Oxide in bone and the pathogenesis and management of cancer-associated bone disease

Dr Ralston has served on the Oliver Bird Committee of the Nuffield Foundation, the Heberden Committee of the British Society of Rheumatology, the Molecular and Cellular Medicine Board of the MRC and the Physiological Medicine and Infections Board of the MRC and the Biologicals Subcommittee of the Commitee for Safety of Medicines.
He is a member of the Physiology and Pharmacology panel of the Wellcome Trust, the Research Subcommittee of the Arthritis Research Campaign and Committee for Safety of Medicines. He is advisor to the National Osteoporosis Society and the National Association for Relief of Paget's Disease, president of the European Calcified Tissues Society and past president of the Bone and Tooth Society of the UK.
Dr Ralston is Joint editor-in-chief of the journal Calcified Tissue International, Section editor of the European Journal of Endocrinology, Associate editor of the journal Bone and is on the Editorial Board of the Journal for Bone and Mineral Research.

Stuart Ralston is a Section Head for Bone Biology, Osteoporosis & Other Diseases of Bone, part of the RHEUMATOLOGY & CLINICAL IMMUNOLOGY Faculty. The role of a Section Head is to work with their Co-Section Head(s) to divide the Section (sub-specialty area) into its component areas of research, nominate leaders in those areas as Faculty Members, and offer ongoing oversight of the content within their Section. They are not asked to evaluate articles, although we do, of course, welcome them.
