Research interests: Epidemiology, basic and molecular diagnosis, antimicrobial treatment and clinical management of tropical infectious diseases including melioidosis, leptospirosis and scrub typhus. Understanding the population genetic structure of Burkholderia pseudomallei, Orientia tsutsugamushi and pathogenic leptospires, and the relationship between this and disease. Mechanisms of Burkholderia pseudomallei pathogenesis. Diagnosis and management of Staphylococcus aureus infection.
