Daniel Vorobiof
Medical Oncology, Sandton Oncology Center, South Africa
Born in Argentina, where he studied at the University of Cordoba and completed his medical degree at the end of 1972. Dr Vorobiof is a registered Specialist Physician with the sub-speciality of Medical Oncology. At present and for the past 14 years, he is in private practice as a Medical Oncologist and the Oncology Director of the Sandton Oncology Centre, Johannesburg.
He has a MD degree from the University of Pretoria and has published more than 100 articles and abstracts. He is a member of several national and international oncologic societies, as well as an elected member to the International Committee of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and a member of the Developing Countries Task Force (DCTF) of the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO).
Dr Vorobiof was the editor of “Understanding Oncology”, for 8 years from its inception. He is on the editorial board of various oncologic related medical journals. He is the current Editor of the Annals of Oncology, Southern Africa Excerpts Edition.
Founder member and past Chairman (1999-2005) of the South African Society of Medical Oncology (SASMO). Founder and past Chairman of the South African Melanoma Advisory Board. Founder member of the International Oncology Foundation (IOF).
Research Interests: For the past 12 years he has been involved in clinical research nationally and internationally with the International Breast Cancer Study Group, the WHO Melanoma Group, the EORTC, SAKK and with other multicentric co-operative clinical trials in South Africa, Europe and North America.
