Colorectal neoplasia; inflammatory bowel disease; pelvic tumours; recurrent rectal cancer and minimally invasive techniques in colorectal surgery including laparoscopic colorectal surgery and endoscopic stenting.

Dr Carne is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and a member of the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australasia, the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, and the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons.He is also part of the Australian Gastrointestinal Trials Group, Cancer Council Victoria, Victorian Cooperative Oncology Group and the Australian Medical Association.
