Shafiqul Alam Sarker is a Senior Scientist in the Clinical Sciences Division, International Centre for Diarrhoeal Diseases Research, Bangladesh (ICDDR,B), Dhaka, Bangladesh and has been in this position since 1979.

He obtained his Bachelor degree in Medicine (MBBS) from Bangladesh in 1977, MD from University of Basel, Switzerland in 1991, and PhD from the Karolinska Institute, Sweden in 2006. My areas of interest are Infectious diarrhoea, malnutrion, therapeutic intervention including immunoglobulin and probiotics in health and diseases, Helicobacter pylori infection, Anemia, iron deficiency anemia, etc.

He is a member of the Bangladesh Medical Association, the Bangladesh Society of Gastroenterology, the Asian Society for  Pediatric Research and the Nutrition Society of Bangladesh
